Having been set a target of winning the 3rd Sultan of Johor Cup by the Malaysian Hockey Confederation, the National Juniors are ready to deliver when the tournament gets underway this Sunday at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Baru.

Olympian Umar Bhutta was named captain as Pakistan’s junior team was announced on Tuesday for the third Sultan of Johor  Invitational hockey tournament to be held in Johor Baru from Sept 22 to 29.

The National Juniors are hoping that the organisors of the 3rd Sultan of Johor Cup will provide video referral for the tournament that will be held from September 22-29 at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Baru.

Out of action for the past three months, Indian hockey juniors will finally get to play at competitive level in the upcoming Sultan of Johor Cup.

And chief coach Gregg Clark said it will give him an accurate idea about his wards ahead of the Junior World Cup.

More than a decade ago, a young Harjot Singh would help his father Surinder Singh on the farm at his village Amloh near Fatehgarh Sahib, about 35 km from Chandigarh. A talk with a Chandigarh hockey player once meant that the youngster enrolled in the Chandigarh Football and Hockey Academy, Sector 42, Chandigarh, and the youngster has not looked back since then.
