For reasons only best known to them, Pakistan have withdrawn from the 2nd edition of the Sultan of Johor Cup which is scheduled for November 11 to 18 at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Baru.

The Junior Black Sticks Men’s team, which is part of the Owen G Glenn Future Black Sticks programme, has been named for the 2nd Sultan of Johor Cup in Malaysia from 11-18 November.

The 18-strong line-up has been finalised following the selection camp in Counties Manukau last weekend. Coach Grant Edwards says the young team is impressive and shows real potential.

A glittering launch, more then RM1 million in sponsorship and a world class field are the ingredients that ensures that the 2012 edition of the Sultan of Johor Cup will be one of the most eagerly anticipated world hockey tournament this year.

With Belgium having declined the invitation, the 2012 edition of the Sultan Johor Cup will be a 6 team affair.

The tournament will be held from the 8-18 November at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Baru and the countries that have confirmed participation are Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, India, Germany and hosts as well as defending champions Malaysia.

A ceremony to mark the 2012 edition will be held on September 22 in Johor Baru.
